Further information from Mrs Barbara Bowes on 01761 49 0285.
Nicholas Locke, grandfather of the philosopher, established the family home
at Belluton, a tithing of Stanton Drew and later to be incorporated into the
parish of Publow-with-Pensford. Formerly a clothier in Dorset, he had been attracted
to Pensford by its successful textile industry.
The family remained at Pensford and John Locke spent his childhood there (although
he had been born at the home in nearby Wrington of his maternal grandmother).
His schooling in Westminster broke that residence, although he retained much
propertyin which he took a lively interest, as can be seen in the exhibition
of his rent books, family wills and letters.

The answer to all three questions: Henry Fielding.
